A new post on Frictional Games website has announced that they are finishing up the final details needed for the release of their new title, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. Many fans of the franchise have been waiting for this title to be released after it was initially set to be released on Halloween of last year. The sudden delay and announcement that the game would not be released until sometime next year was unexpected, but fans are now able to look forward to the announcement of an official release date.
In the post by Frictional Games, the following statement was made, “How come a game meant for Halloween 2012 has been delayed for so long? Originally we thought it would be a short, experimental game set in the universe of Amnesia, but thechineseroom had a vision that was bigger than that. As their work progressed, the potential for a much greater project emerged. What we ended up with is no longer what we had first imagined, but a fully fledged Amnesia game. A different kind of Amnesia, but definitely not a short experiment.”
This news is exciting for fans of the Amnesia series. The fact that they are allowing this game to become larger in terms of scale and things to do bodes well for the upcoming title. Having such a game be more fleshed out as what seems to be the case is a good thing. We will soon have an official release date, which is supposed to be some time during the second quarter of 2013. The price of the game, availability, as well as system requirements of the game will be release at the same time. This is exciting news for those fans of the franchise, as we have gone quite a while without much of an update on the upcoming title. Now we must play the waiting game, and see just when we will have a chance to get our hands on this new title.
